Ollie Oldenburg

Name: Roland 'Ollie' Oldenburg

Raised into a family of professional classical musicians, music has been in my veins since birth.
At an early age the family moved to Breda, and when I was 5 I had pianolessons for a couple of years. At age 15, I bought a very second hand acoustic guitar and started practicing and playing
in school- and local bands, teaching myself
how to play and sing along with it.

Later, in 1994 at age 27 I decided to audition at the Maastricht Conservatory, and whaddayaknow?
I passed, and studied 'Vocals Jazz and Pop' for a couple of years with American jazz singer and great vocal teacher Janice Lakers (Seattle).

There are several bands I've played and sung in over the last 26 years; His & Co, Oliver and Zinatra being the most important to mention.
A well estimated figure of over 1350 performances took me from bars, weddings and festivals to almost every major venue in the Netherlands, and to Belgium, England, Germany and Italy.

I have also done some studio projects with top producers like Peter DeWint and Erwin Musper, and various jobs in harmony/backingvocals. Furthermore
there were live jamsessions, last minute substitutions, a Saxon tributeband, a Queen tributeband, a Toto tributeband and even a glitter
and glamrock revival showband complete with wigs, outfits, platform boots, make up, pyro, hot female dancers and real-live tigers on stage called Tiggers, I've been hosting as a Master Of Ceremonies on several occasions, I have performed musical pieces from "Chess" with an orchestra in Open Air, and what not? Almost anything that one can do with a microphone - 'been there, done that'.

Recently, I'm proud to say I'm one of the singers on an AOR-project called Frozen Rain, which has some internationally well-known names like Tommy Denander and Daniel Flores on it.

Nowadays you can mostly find me on stage with my collegue Renee Hissink with 2-man cover band
His & Co, about 80 shows each year.

My inspiration comes mainly from artists like:

George Michael, Gino Vanelli, Billy Joel, Robert Palmer, Jackson Browne, Michael McDonald, Bobby McFerrin, Mel Torme, Sting, Freddie Mercury, Carl Albert, Ray Gillen, Joe Lynn Turner, Ronnie James Dio, Joseph Williams, Geoff Tate, Steve Perry, Steve Augeri, Eric Martin, Tony Martin, Joey Tempest and of course Glenn 'HMV' Hughes.
